Wesley’s life was cut short on Jan. 29, 2026, at approximately 1:16 a.m., when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while on the westbound lanes near the exit for U.S. Highway 65.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Mohammed Soghar of Kansas City, Kansas, was operating a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer when the collision occurred. Despite the swift response of the Springfield Police Department, Wesley was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified, and the city is rallying around them in support during this unimaginable time.
