In Loving Memory of Jacinta Stevens

In Loving Memory of Jacinta Stevens (1994–2026)

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we remember the life of Jacinta Stevens, a bright and beautiful soul whose time on this earth was far too short. Jacinta, just 31 years old, tragically passed away following a devastating accident on Thursday evening, when her vehicle left the Parkway East and plunged into the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh. Despite the courageous and tireless efforts of first responders and medical teams, Jacinta succumbed to her injuries approximately five hours later at the hospital.

The tragedy occurred around 4:30 p.m. near Second Avenue, between the Hot Metal and Birmingham bridges, close to UPMC Mercy. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a vehicle falling into the river from Interstate 376. They worked tirelessly to rescue Jacinta from the water, holding onto hope that she would survive. Sadly, the injuries she sustained were too severe, and her passing has left family, friends, and the community in deep mourning.

Jacinta Stevens was more than a name in a headline—she was a daughter, a friend, a loved one, and a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her. She carried kindness in her heart, warmth in her smile, and strength in her spirit. Her laughter could light up a room, and her compassion touched everyone who crossed her path. Whether through her words, her actions, or simply her presence, Jacinta made people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Those who knew Jacinta remember her as a person full of life, dreams, and purpose. She had aspirations, hopes for the future, and a desire to make her mark in the world. She was someone who cared deeply for others, who offered support during difficult times, and who celebrated the joys of life with genuine enthusiasm. Her life, though tragically cut short, was filled with moments of love, connection, and meaning.

Her passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly everything can change. In a single moment, a vibrant life was taken, leaving behind grief, unanswered questions, and a void that can never truly be filled. Yet, in the midst of sorrow, we hold onto the memories she created—the conversations, the shared laughter, the quiet moments of understanding, and the love she gave so freely.

Jacinta’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her spirit remains in the stories told about her, the lessons she taught, and the kindness she showed. Though she is no longer with us in body, her memory will continue to inspire love, compassion, and reflection in all who knew her.

To Jacinta’s family, friends, and loved ones: may you find comfort in the memories you shared and strength in the love that surrounds you. May her soul rest in peace, and may her light continue to shine in your hearts forever.

Rest in peace, Jacinta Stevens. You will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
