In Loving Memory of Caden Fine, JJ Wright, and Cameron Casorso 🕊️
With hearts full of sorrow and disbelief, we mourn the tragic loss of three young lives taken far too soon. Caden Fine, JJ Wright, and Cameron Casorso, beloved members of the Southern Alberta Mustangs, passed away in a devastating wreck on their way to practice on Monday afternoon. Their passing has sent shockwaves through their families, teammates, friends, and the entire hockey community, leaving behind grief that words can barely describe.
These young men were more than hockey players—they were sons, brothers, teammates, and friends who carried dreams, passion, and bright futures ahead of them. Their dedication to the sport, their love for the game, and their commitment to their team spoke volumes about their character and drive. They showed up not just to play, but to grow, to compete, to bond, and to build something meaningful together.
Caden Fine, from Birmingham, Alabama, carried the pride of his hometown with him. Traveling far from home to pursue his hockey dreams, he embodied courage, determination, and ambition. He was known for his strong spirit, his work ethic, and his willingness to push himself beyond limits. Caden’s journey was one of bravery—leaving familiarity behind to chase something he loved, and inspiring those around him to do the same.
JJ Wright, of Kamloops, British Columbia, was remembered for his heart, his energy, and his love for the game. He was a teammate who lifted others up, a friend who brought laughter into the locker room, and a young man whose presence made a difference. His passion on the ice and kindness off it made him someone people gravitated toward naturally.
Cameron Casorso, also of Kamloops, B.C., was known for his determination, sportsmanship, and the quiet strength he carried. He represented the spirit of teamwork and perseverance, always striving to improve and to support those around him. Cameron’s journey was marked by commitment and a deep love for hockey, and his impact will be remembered by all who had the privilege to skate beside him.
Their tragic passing on the way to practice—a place where they chased dreams and built memories—makes this loss even more heartbreaking. It reminds us of the fragility of life, how quickly everything can change, and how precious every moment truly is. In a sport built on speed, teamwork, and resilience, they embodied the very essence of what it means to be part of a team and a community.
The Southern Alberta Mustangs, their families, and the broader hockey world now carry the weight of this loss together. Teammates have lost brothers, families have lost sons, and the world has lost three young men full of promise. Yet, in the midst of grief, there is unity—people coming together to honor their lives, to share memories, and to keep their spirits alive through stories, tributes, and love.
May Caden Fine, JJ Wright, and Cameron Casorso be remembered for their passion, their smiles, their dedication, and the joy they brought to those around them. Their jerseys, their laughter, their goals, and their moments on and off the ice will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.
Rest in peace, young warriors of the ice.
May your memories shine bright, and may your loved ones find strength and comfort in the legacy you leave behind.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. 🕊️
