Nickie Van Davie Arrested; Athens man arrested for abusing victims between the ages of 2 and 15
Limestone County, Alabama – The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of an Athens man for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years ago.
According to a social media post from the Sheriff’s Office, 72-year-old Nickie Van Davis was arrested following an investigation led by Captain Caleb Durden.
On March 4, 2025, Captain Durden completed a report detailing the allegations of child sexual abuse. Authorities say evidence suggests there could be multiple victims.
LCSO says Davis attempted to flee when Captain Durden and Investigator Jesse Gibson responded to his residence.
According to authorities, additional charges are expected. Authorities believe the victims ranged in age from 2 to 15.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Nickie Van Davis, 72, of Athens, AL, on charges of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old following an investigation led by Captain Caleb Durden. On March 4, 2025, Captain Durden completed a report detailing allegations of child sexual abuse. During the investigation, evidence suggested the potential for multiple victims. Based on the findings in this initial case, probable cause was established to arrest Davis. Captain Durden and Investigator Jesse Gibson responded to Davis’ residence, where he attempted to flee but was taken into custody. Investigators Stephen Posey, Hayden Pierce, and Evidence Technician Massy Tolen assisted in executing a search warrant at Davis’ home.
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected. Davis’ bond is set at $1,000,000 cash in this first case. It is believed his victims were between the ages of 2 and 15, and his offenses may span decades.
