David Thomas Death, Obituary; Victim identified in Linn County ice fishing accident

An ice fishing mishap on Thursday claimed the life of a 46-year-old Marion man.

After being pulled from a lake behind Chain Lake Road shortly before 2:45 p.m., Brian Thomas passed away at a nearby hospital, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas was found unresponsive in the water, according to deputies. His remains have been moved so that an official autopsy may be performed.

Brad Holsinger, 66, of Walker, and David Thomas, 67, of Marion, have been recognized as the survivors. They received treatment for hypothermia; their health has not been updated.
