Franklinton Police investigating after five people shot on Sunday after Pepe Mardi Gras Parade
Five people were shot on Sunday night, and the Franklinton Police Department is looking into the incident.
Five people were shot after the Pepe Mardi Gras Parade at approximately 7 p.m., according to a news release from the FPD.
The victims received life-saving treatment from the local FPD and Washington Parish Sheriff’s Deputies until they were taken to nearby hospitals.
According to the FPD, a person of interest was located and arrested by its detectives. Police said other suspects are being sought for interrogation.
Two people have been treated and freed, according to the police. According to reports, the status of two victims was stable but guarded. The condition of one victim is critical.
Furthermore, an earlier threat of gunshots caused officers to come in contact with an individual who had an AR-15 style rifle. No other details are available at this time.
Update – FPD has announced an arrest in this case. 18-year-old Jamerian Anders was arrested on five counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder following a gang-related shooting, according to police.
Authorities say Anders provided a voluntary statement in which he implicated himself in the commission of the crimes.
