Shooting in New Orleans; Man fatally shot in Gretna and 2 Dead, suspect arrested at the scene, police say

A man was taken into custody by Gretna Police after shooting and killing another man on Saturday night.

Officers were called to a disturbance in the 2100 block of Stafford Street in Gretna, according to the Gretna Police Department.

Another 911 call stating that someone had been shot at the scene and the suspect was still there was received while the officers were on the scene.

Joshua Carter, 36, was discovered by responding officers laying on the pavement with a gunshot wound to his chest.

After EMS arrived and began treating the victim, he was taken to University Hospital, where he passed away.

Scott Fredericks, 58, was still at the site and in possession of a pistol when officers apprehended him, according to investigators.

He had a reservation with one count of Second-Degree Murder. The investigation is ongoing.
