Mario Greene Arrested; Suspect, victim identified after deadly shooting in Claremore
Following Thursday’s shooting in Claremore, a man is being held for first-degree murder.
Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, callers reported a shooting near South 4180 Road and East 390 Road, according to the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office.
Travis Casey was found by deputies with multiple gunshot wounds. On the spot, he was declared dead.
Mario Greene, 43, was arrested at the scene, according to an affidavit. According to deputies, Greene carried ammunition in his pocket that was identical to what was used during the shooting.
While deputies conducted their investigation, Greene was brought to the Rogers County Jail.
An argument ensued and multiple shots were fired. When witnesses exited the trailer, they found Casey with gunshot wounds and Greene with a gun, according to the affidavit.
Greene allegedly pointed the gun at the witnesses when they tried rendering aid to Casey.
Investigators spoke with Greene, who said he shot Casey with a handgun that he later hid. Greene told investigators he carried a firearm to protect himself from Casey, who he accused of stealing his father’s vehicle in an ongoing dispute.
The affidavit says Greene told deputies he broke into his father’s house and stole the handgun used in the shooting. He said he didn’t mean for Casey to die, but felt threatened by him during their argument.
Greene, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked into Rogers County Jail for first degree murder, pointing a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony. He’s being held without bond.
