20 year old Southern student dies during fraternity initiation
After an off-campus fraternity ritual, 20-year-old Caleb Wilson, a member of Southern University’s well-known Human Jukebox marching band, died.
Caleb reportedly passed out at the fraternity ceremony for Omega Psi Phi.
Early Thursday morning, February 27, a group of friends took Wilson to Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet Boulevard, where he remained unconscious.
Before being taken to the hospital, the group was at North Sherwood Forest Community Park, according to detectives.
At 3:15 a.m., hospital personnel declared the student dead and contacted Baton Rouge Police, which led to a death inquiry.
The student is a native of the New Orleans region, and his father is a senior law enforcement official there.
