20 year old Southern student dies during fraternity initiation
According to a source familiar with the situation, a 20-year-old Southern University student collapsed and died while participating in an off-campus fraternity rite.
According to reports, the student passed out while the fraternity’s Omega Psi Phi members were performing a rite in which pledges form a line.
Early Thursday morning, February 27, a group of friends took him to Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet Boulevard, where he remained unconscious.
At 3:15 a.m., hospital personnel declared the student dead and contacted Baton Rouge Police, which led to a death inquiry.
