MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Meridian community is mourning the tragic loss of Matthew Cox, an 18-year-old young man whose life was cut short in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning. The Ada County Coroner has confirmed that Cox succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident, leaving family, friends, and the broader community in deep sorrow.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched around 3:23 a.m. to the scene near South Meridian and East Columbia Roads. Investigators reported that Matthew Cox was driving a 2001 black Jaguar S-Type sedan northbound on South Meridian Road as he approached East Columbia Road. For reasons still under investigation, Cox lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway, roll, and collide with a power pole. He was the sole occupant in the car. Detectives believe that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Tragically, Matthew was pronounced dead at the scene.
