CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas – The community of Abilene and the surrounding areas are mourning a profound loss following a tragic crash on Highway 36. On the evening of Feb 11 Wednesday , a devastating accident claimed the lives of 36-year-old Kaley Loren DeMasters of Abilene and an 11-year-old female student from Eula ISD.

Kaley Loren DeMasters, a beloved member of the Abilene community, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near FM 603 around 7:30 p.m. The young student, whose name has not been released to the public, tragically passed away while en route to the hospital. Both deaths have left family, friends, classmates, and the wider community in deep sorrow.

According to a crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, DeMasters ran a stop sign and collided with an 18-wheeler. While the driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries, the impact of the crash resulted in the untimely deaths of DeMasters and the young student, highlighting how quickly and unexpectedly life can change.

Eula ISD released a statement expressing their grief and extending condolences to the affected families:
