In a moment that changed everything, he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene, leaving Jayden critically injured and alone.
Jayden was rushed to the hospital, where doctors and medical staff fought to save him. Despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a family shattered by loss and a community grappling with the pain of such a senseless tragedy.
In the hours that followed, law enforcement launched an intensive investigation. Huron Street was closed for several hours as officers worked tirelessly at the scene, gathering evidence and seeking answers. Investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a black BMW sedan, and with the help of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, a Medina Alert was issued to locate the vehicle and the driver responsible. By February 8, Thornton Police confirmed that the suspect vehicle had been located and the driver was taken into custody—a step toward justice, though no action can ever restore what was lost.
