In Loving Memory of Gavin Boswell
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Gavin Boswell, a young life taken far too soon in a tragic traffic collision on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Itawamba County, Mississippi. Around 5:02 p.m., a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 76 and Highway 23 claimed the life of this precious child, leaving family, friends, and the community in deep sorrow.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the collision involved a 2016 Chrysler 200 driven by 22-year-old Kelli J. Franklin of Hernando and a 2016 Kia Optima driven by 36-year-old Wendy J. Mayhall of Tremont. Four minor children were passengers in the Kia, and tragically, Gavin Boswell was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another child was transported to Red Bay Hospital, and two more were flown to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis for treatment. The crash is still under investigation.
While the details of the accident outline the circumstances, they can never capture the life, light, and spirit that Gavin brought into the world. He was not simply a passenger in a vehicle—he was a child with dreams, laughter, curiosity, and the love of his family surrounding him. He was a son, a sibling, a friend, and a beloved member of a community that will forever remember him.
Gavin’s presence was a gift to those around him. He brought joy, warmth, and energy to every moment he touched. His smile, his voice, and the unique way he looked at the world are memories that his loved ones will carry forever. The pain of losing a child is immeasurable, and the void left by his passing is felt by all who knew him.
Though Gavin’s time with us was tragically short, his life mattered. The memories shared, the love given, and the impact he had on the hearts of those around him will never fade. In the midst of grief, family and friends will remember the laughter, the hugs, and the simple joys that he brought into their lives.
As the Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation, the community grieves and seeks comfort, understanding, and peace. Gavin Boswell’s life, though brief, reminds us to cherish every moment and to hold loved ones close, for life is fragile and precious.
Today, we honor Gavin Boswell—not for the circumstances of his passing, but for the love he shared, the joy he brought, and the life he lived. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community, a lasting tribute to a life cut tragically short.
May Gavin Boswell rest in eternal peace. May his memory be a blessing, a source of comfort, and a reminder of the love and light he brought into the world. 🕊️
