At approximately 6:43 a.m., Richmond Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Deforrest Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Melton unresponsive on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Richmond Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.
Melton’s family described him as a devoted son, loving brother, and loyal friend.
