Brooklyn Stanley, 22, and Mackenzie Lawrence, 29, were passengers in a 2025 Honda CR-V that was involved in a violent head-on collision on State Route 60 around 3:00 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Honda, operated by Bradley Stanley of Newark, was traveling northbound when it was struck head-on by a southbound 2010 Mercury Milan that had crossed left of center. The driver of the Mercury, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brooklyn Stanley and Mackenzie Lawrence were rushed to Genesis Hospital with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical staff, both young women tragically passed away, leaving family, friends, and the entire Newark community in shock and mourning.
