In Loving Memory of Alex Abrams (1988–2026)

It is with profound sadness that the Redding community mourns the loss of Alex Abrams, a 37-year-old local resident whose life was tragically cut short in the Sacramento River. Alex’s passing has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock and deep grief as they come to terms with a life ended far too soon under heartbreaking circumstances.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, members of its dive team recovered Alex’s body on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026, from the Sacramento River. At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Redding Police Department requested assistance from the Shasta County Dive Team after a body was reported in the river. Responders traveled from the Kurtas Boat Ramp on Park Marina Drive to the area north of the Highway 44 overpass and south of the Sundial Bridge near “the Bluffs,” where Alex was located submerged. Tragically, he was beyond lifesaving measures at the time of recovery. The dive team transported Alex’s body back to the Kurtas Boat Ramp, and it was subsequently released to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office, which positively identified him later that afternoon.

Alex had been missing since Sunday, February 8, following a pursuit with the Redding Police Department, during which he ran into the Sacramento River. The circumstances surrounding the events leading to his death remain under review by local authorities. While details are still being investigated, the pain felt by his loved ones is immediate and deeply profound.

Alex Abrams was more than a statistic or a name in a report—he was a son, a friend, and a member of the Redding community whose presence brought meaning and connection to the lives of those around him. At 37, Alex’s life was filled with experiences, relationships, and memories that mattered deeply to those who knew him. He is remembered for his individuality, his spirit, and the mark he left on his community and loved ones.

This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of life’s fragility and the unpredictability of circumstances. While the events surrounding Alex’s final moments are being investigated, what remains certain is the lasting impact he had on those who loved him. His memory, laughter, and the moments shared with him will continue to live on through the stories and recollections of family, friends, and the community of Redding.
