In Loving Memory of Kelsey and Kinsley Kite
With immeasurable sorrow, the community of Katy, Texas, grieves the devastating loss of two precious young lives. On Wednesday, the 21000 block of Creek Edge Court became the backdrop of a tragedy no family should endure. Two toddler girls, just 2-year-old Kelsey Kite and 3-year-old Kinsley Kite, were found unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool, leaving their family and all who knew them in unimaginable grief.
According to Harris County authorities, emergency crews from Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48, alongside deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the home around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a water-related emergency. Both little girls were residents of the home, living with their mother and grandparents. As soon as the grandmother returned from grocery shopping, she made the horrifying discovery of Kelsey and Kinsley in the pool. Their mother and grandfather, who were still inside the house asleep at the time, were awakened by the grandmother’s desperate cries for help.
First responders from Harris County ESD No. 40 arrived quickly and began administering lifesaving care. A Memorial Hermann Life Flight helicopter was called in to transport both children to a nearby hospital while CPR efforts continued. Despite the heroic attempts by paramedics, doctors, and medical staff, both Kelsey and Kinsley were tragically pronounced dead.
The suddenness of this loss has left the family reeling. These two beautiful girls, just at the start of life, had a bond that many of us can only dream of. Kelsey and Kinsley were bright lights in their family’s world—two little souls whose laughter and curiosity made each day special. Their grandmother, mother, and grandfather now carry an unimaginable weight—one that no words can fully express.
As investigations continue, authorities work to piece together how these sweet girls found their way into the pool. What remains certain, though, is the love they brought into this world and the deep void left by their absence. Their bright futures, full of potential, have been stolen, but their spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
To the Kite family, our hearts ache with you. We hope that the memories of Kelsey and Kinsley—their smiles, their curious eyes, their tiny hands—will bring some comfort amidst the pain. And to all who hear this story, let us hold close the ones we love, stay vigilant, and remember that even the smallest lives can have the biggest impact.
Rest in peace, dear Kelsey and Kinsley. You will never be forgotten.
