In Loving Memory of Courtney Whitehead, Kaylee Whitehead, and Aaron Page
The Lamar County community is reeling from a heartbreaking tragedy that claimed the lives of three young individuals on the night of Friday, February 13, 2026. A two-vehicle collision on Highway 42 has left families, friends, and neighbors mourning the sudden loss of Courtney Whitehead, 23, of Bassfield; 16-year-old Kaylee Whitehead, also of Bassfield; and Aaron Page, 18, of Sumrall.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 8:33 p.m. when a Ford F-150, driven by Aaron Page, was traveling west and collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Camry, driven by Courtney Whitehead, traveling east. In the Camry with Courtney were two passengers: Kaylee Whitehead, 16, and a 17-year-old from Carson. Emergency responders pronounced Aaron, Courtney, and Kaylee dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old survived but remains hospitalized with critical injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
The loss of these young lives has left a deep void in the community. Friends and neighbors describe Courtney, Kaylee, and Aaron as bright, energetic, and full of promise. Courtney, known for her warmth and generosity, had touched many lives in Bassfield through her friendships and community involvement. Kaylee, with her youthful spirit and bright smile, brought joy to all who knew her. Aaron, an 18-year-old from Sumrall, was admired for his determination and lively personality, always eager to engage with friends and family.
