According to Marion Police Major B.J. Gruber, dispatchers received an urgent call around 8:40 p.m. from CSX reporting that two pedestrians had been struck by a train. Officers arrived on the scene to find Dalton McMillen, who was pronounced dead at the location, and a young child trapped beneath the train. The child required immediate extrication and was transported first to Marion General Hospital and then airlifted to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for specialized care. The community continues to hold hope and pray for the child’s recovery.
