In Loving Memory of David Durham

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we remember and honor the life of David Durham, whose journey was tragically cut short in a fatal motorcycle crash on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Waverly. At just 35 years old, David’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, the crash occurred around 2:57 PM near the intersection of Waverly Road and Hodge Street. Investigators reported that a 2015 Toyota Highlander was traveling eastbound on Waverly Road when it attempted to make a left turn onto Hodge Street, crossing into the path of David’s motorcycle, which was traveling westbound. The impact was devastating, ejecting David from his motorcycle and leaving him unresponsive along the north shoulder of the roadway. A compassionate bystander immediately began CPR, and first responders rushed him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

David’s life, though ended far too soon, was filled with meaning, personality, and moments that will forever live on in the memories of those who loved him. He was known for his passion for riding, his adventurous spirit, and the freedom he felt on the open road. To many, riding wasn’t just a hobby—it was a reflection of who he was: bold, independent, and alive with energy.

Beyond the motorcycle, David was a son, a brother, a friend, and a cherished soul. He had a way of making people feel seen and heard, whether through laughter, conversation, or simple acts of kindness. His presence could light up a room, and his absence now leaves an ache that words cannot fully express.

This tragic accident is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly everything can change. It also highlights the importance of safety, awareness, and protection on the road—for drivers and riders alike. While nothing can undo what has happened, David’s memory can inspire others to be more cautious, more compassionate, and more mindful of one another.

We remember David Durham not for the way he died, but for the way he lived. For the rides he loved, the smiles he shared, the conversations he sparked, and the connections he built. His story does not end here—he lives on in every memory, every photo, every shared laugh, and every mile of road that reminds someone of him.

Rest in peace, David. May you ride free on endless roads, free from pain and sorrow. Your life mattered. Your presence mattered. And your memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you.

🕊️ Gone but never forgotten.
